Aadhaar Card For Divyang: Govt Issued Order stating that even those without fingers or eyes will be able to get an Aadhaar card

People who don’t have fingers or eyes will also be able to get an Aadhaar card. The government announced that individuals who don’t have fingerprints available for Aadhaar can also register using iris (eye pupil) scans. Those who cannot provide both fingerprints and iris biometrics can also register for Aadhaar under special enrollment.

  • What is Special Aadhaar Enrollment?
  • Individuals unable to provide both fingerprints and iris biometrics can still enroll for Aadhaar under special enrollment. For such individuals, their name, gender, address, and date/year of birth are recorded along with available biometrics. Missing biometrics are digitally marked in the software. Specific guidelines ensure capturing images in a way that compensates for the absence of fingers or iris or both.

The supervisor at the Aadhaar enrollment center verifies such enrollments as ‘special enrollments’. Despite any inability to provide biometrics, after completing the enrollment process as per requirements, an Aadhaar number can be issued to each eligible individual.
